Site Description
The Feast of Tabernacles in 2013 in South Africa will take place again in Hermanus. Hermanus is a small coastal town about an hour’s drive east of Cape Town International Airport on a good road, the N2. It is a very beautiful location on a very large bay with a nearby mountain backdrop.
Hermanus is close to many wine estates with wine-tasting facilities. It is also close to large apple farms with visitor facilities. To the east of Hermanus, at Gansbaai, there is world-famous great white shark cage diving and viewing.
Cape Town, with Table Mountain cable car access, Two Oceans Aquarium and waterfront shopping, is only 110 kilometers (66 miles) away. There is a beautiful drive around False Bay and the Cape Peninsula. There are also a number of game reserves within a three-hour drive from Hermanus
Hermanus is famous as the best place in the world to view southern right whales. They come into beautiful, blue Walker Bay from July to November to calve, and Feast time is peak viewing period. Whales and their calves can be viewed by visitors standing on the shoreline rocks and small cliffs. If you want to get even closer, there are two boats (72-seaters) that take tourists out to the whales.
Services will be held in the well-maintained Hermanus Municipal Auditorium, which has 188 comfortable, good-quality seats arranged theater-style. The first service will commence at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2013.
Further activities and attractions include many art galleries, a museum, bathing, bird watching, board sailing, bowling, four miles of sea cliff paths, craft markets, cycling, farm stalls, fly-fishing, golf, hiking, horse riding, quad bikes, rock angling, sea kayaking, squash, tennis and treetop zip lines
